04-03-2012: When you’re riding around trying to visit and talk to every principal of every public elementary school in New Orleans, you get to see a lot of New Orleans. And New Orleans East! That place is huge…
We rolled by the 6 Flags Theme Park and I wondered aloud “I wonder what they’re gonna do with that place”. It’s fit for electricity, gots plumbing. Bitching’ rides. The person with me at the time interrupted my reverie on productivity with a sad comment: “I bet there’s tons of dead bodies back there”.
We got back on the interstate and rode back in to more central areas of New Orleans and I caught the second shot. I thought to myself, “I wonder what they’re gonna do with that place… I bet there’s tons of dead bodies back there”.

This is why, no matter what, New Orleans always wins.
This is what driving was like yesterday. The visibility was much worse than the photo shows. Also I was doing like 85mph while snapping this.
WHAT IS THIS KICKSTARTER ALL ABOUT?Hi! My name is Erin Wilson and I’m trying to write a graphic novel called SNOWBIRD. If you want to read the first five pages of SNOWBIRD, you can do so on the front page of my website at…WWW.ERROAR.COMThis kickstarter campaign is for the funds to drop eveyrthing and draw for four months and then print one thousand of the 100 page book
PREVIEW PAGES OF SNOWBIRD : : page one, page two, page three, page four, page five
WHAT ARE YOU WRITING THE NOVEL ABOUT? The winter of 2010 I lived in New Orleans, and a series of traumatic events took place. I came to town with a broken heart, hoping to find time to recover. What I found instead was a winter where members of my community suffered violent assault, nine people died, our creative efforts during Mardi Gras fell prey to police brutality, ending with a police raid of our infoshop, The Iron Rail Collective. I am writing this story as a witness to the events that took place, but also to remind those who were there about the good things that happened, too. It was one of the most important winters of my life, and I don’t want to forget it.
WHO ARE YOU, LADY? Erin Wilson is an artist/illustrator/designer/scenic artist/wizard who lives in New Orleans, LA. Her greatest inspiration as a young artist was Sailor Moon, pokemon, and in general all mid-nineties anime. Erin is doing her best to survive in life doing the things that she loves, although she is also a really good barista when she needs to be. If you wanna read all about Erin’s credentials or to see her porfolio.. go to WWW.ERROAR.COM!

All set for The Big Lebowski on the roof of a parking garage at 840 Carondelet. There’s a bar set up, but I haven’t seen the taco truck yet…
Why New Orleans is awesome, reason #405984095845098. I hope the drive-in’s bar is serving ONLY white russians tonight. Anything else would be appalling.
Also, MOD DANCE PARTY tonight.

I am commencing beer consumption.
I’m sorry, but I feel obliged to point out your dangerously low Crystal reserves. That’s simply not going to last you much past half-time.

Faubourgeois.
If you can’t make it to the show at Saturn Bar tonight, they’ve set up a donation website on Facebook (via PayPal) to help contribute. Everyone who likes Kristen’s (and Matty’s) Mod Dance Party nights, perfect cups of coffee at Rue de la Course, and generally helping out one of the nicest New Orleanians ever, please donate, even if it’s only a few bucks.
Thanks, guys.
Kristen had/has a very bad ear infection. Her ear drum shattered, and she had to go to the emergency room where they gave her a CT scan, and several other doctor visits. She went deaf in her ear, although her hearing is supposedly (hopefully) going to come back. Kristen has very large hospital bills and she missed weeks of work, and she may still have to have some kind of operation. So some of us are holding a benefit show to help.
I personally can’t attend, but if you’re in NOLA (or Baton Rouge or Lafayette or Memphis), you should make it down, pitch in for the cover and a little extra for donations. She’s a great DJ, a great human being, a great barista, and pours a mean whisky with plenty of conversation on slow nights behind the bar. I know I speak for all of us when we want her to make a full recovery as soon as possible, and not to be totally fucked by these massive bills. I’ve suggested setting up an online donation system for those of us who can’t make it, so if that happens, I’ll post the link here and everywhere.
Glad you’re getting better, Kristen. You’ve got my full support, and if my followers disagree, you’re all dead to me.

NASA image of the muddy Mississippi spilling into Lake Pontchartrain via the Bonnet Carre
Not that anyone gives a shit, but the water in the canals and lake front outside my house have turned Mississippi-muddy-brown (with a splash of water moccasin for good measure). Just waiting for the dead fish to start popping up all over the place.
